Organic Ramsey comes in from the cold!

A bonus for shopper and stall holders alike.  From this Saturday the Ramsey market will be located INDOORS at the new ‘Northern Lights’ Community Centre on Bowring Road, Ramsey.  (Park on the car park at Shoprite, and simply walk across the road.).  Dot and Robin Price, and sister Alison will be there every Saturday 10-1.

They will be there every Saturday throughout December too  up to an including the 24th, Christmas Eve.  To ensure you get what you want for Christmas, please order the week before if you are at the market then.  If you can’t make it on the 17th to order forward, then please call Dot on 470507 (or if you can’t reach her, Alison on 421982) by Wed 21st.

The certified organic range includes their superb eggs (so their customers say!) and vegetables including parsnips, beetroot, cabbage, savoy cabbage, chard, spinach, kale and turnips - all of these 100% organic, 100% local, 100% fresh.

Their certified organic produce is supplemented by naturally grown potatoes and carrots which they have grown specially for them locally.

They will also have some pots of bulbs, an ideal growing Christmas gift.

As well as their weekly market in Ramsey, they will also be in their regular place at St John’s Market every Thursday up to and including Thursday 22nd December.  For forward orders, please order the week before at the market or call Dot by Tues 20th.

With local organic, like all local produce, the growers are planning their programmes for next year in the very near future.  Please give them your support NOW for local seasonal produce.  That gives them the incentive to provide us consumers with an even wider range for even longer next year.  Otherwise, it takes us to a ‘use it or lose it’ scenario, and that is really the last thing we want, isn’t it?  So let’s encourage them by buying now, and we can all look forward to even better supplies and more variety from next Spring onwards.

Manx Organic Network – On Target, On Brand, On-Line.

Over the past few months, Manx Organic Network has made significant strides in the supply and quality of local organic produce, particularly with regards to organic meat.

Under our commercial banner, Pure Manx Organic, we have just launched a superb new range of organic beef, lamb and Loaghtan gift selection boxes. A perfect gift for friends or family, it is also a great way to support our organic meat producers this Christmas.

The gift can be given in the form of a voucher, redeemable at Radcliffe Butchers, by pre-ordering at the shop or by phone. Details of this fantastic Christmas gift idea can be found in the next section of Stop Press headed Pure Manx Organic Meat Gift Selection Boxes - the perfect Christmas gift.

We are now able to offer our most comprehensive range of organic produce to date.

Our organic producers of eggs, vegetables and herbs have been working hard over the year, increasing the volume, range of and number of outlets for their produce.  In particular, we have made real progress in the more complex area of organic meat supplies.

We now have a clear certified chain of organic meat, from field to fork - from the producers such as Adam Kelly in Douglas and Pheric Curphey in Kirk Michael, through the strict organic processes adhered to by the meat plant, Isle of Man Meats, to, finally, our newly certified organic retailer, Radcliffe Butchers of Castletown.

We have also made great efforts to make ordering your organic meat simpler:

Shop direct at Radcliffe’s of Castletown
Shop on-line at
Shop via phone at Radcliffe’s on 822271

Radcliffe’s offer a second-to-none personal service which ranges from helping you decide on which cuts would suit your purposes best (in store or by phone) to organising Island-wide delivery to your door (free delivery on orders £25+). Don’t forget you can use your MON meat club member’s discount of 5% for the meat boxes Radcliffe’s offer on their website.

We’ve been working hard to create a place where we can share ideas and information with our members in an easy to use, immediate and effective way. The result is that we have now gone live with our new website, There, you’ll find the latest news on our current activities, a list of organic suppliers around the island, plus the chance for you to get involved via our linked Facebook page.

So why not bookmark our website and if you are on Facebook, 'like' our page at

There is a great deal of local pride on our wonderful island, and increasing support for everything local.  This is the perfect time to get behind and support our blossoming organic movement.

We know that purse strings are pulled that little bit harder these days, but we can still choose organic and do it cost effectively; for example, by selecting cheaper though often more flavoursome cuts. We may pay a little more for organic, but we also get that feel-good factor of making the right choice - the organic choice.

So let’s invigorate and regenerate our support for Manx Organic, and have a very merry Manx Organic Christmas!
